Dominic Vella

Dominic Vella studied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge graduating with a BA and PhD in fluid mechanics in 2007. During his post-doc in Paris he worked on the mechanics of thin elastic structures, especially their interaction with surface effects. He returned to Cambridge for a further year of post-doc before moving to Oxford in 2011 as University Lecturer, now Professor, of Applied Mathematics. His work focuses on the development of mathematical models for elastic instabilities such as wrinkling, delamination and snap-through.
